  HOW IT WORKS

Run The Vines is a series of trail runs that started in March 2015 when the owner of Onsite Events decided to host events that will encourage family and friends, young and old to have a healthy life style by taking part in events that will accommodated all fitness levels.

The fact that the novice runner to the more serious runner can run with family and friends on a different wine farm every month while enjoying the good food, wine, hospitality and live music after their run, surely contributes to the success of the series.

This year runners that pre-enter and pre-pay for all 12 events before the 1st event on the 4th of March 2017 and then run in all 12 events will again receive their 12 bottles of wine (1 from each farm where they ran and finished), after the last run in Feb 2018.

Also new to the 2017 series will be the fact that there will be a bonus (13’th) run that participants can use as a substitution run should they not be able to run all 12 runs.

Runners are welcome to run all 13 but because of people being sick, having other appointments etc. we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt by adding a 13’th event to use if they should miss one of the 12. Yes – we are nice people!!

Runners that pre enter for the series will also receive a Technical Running Shirt as part of their series entry. The design will be confirmed soon but it will depict the fact that you entered for all 12 events. This unique shirt will not be for sale to any other runners.

We had the request for longer distances so we are adding a 17km route to 6 of the 12 events. Runners can decide if they want to do 12 x 5km, 12 x 10km or 6 x 10km plus 6 x 17km.

Runners can downgrade at any time, but will have to pay the difference should they wish to upgrade.

We are also proud to announce that we will be hosting a Junior Challenge with all our events. This challenge will be sponsored by Henties. Juniors entering the whole series will also receive a unique running shirt. The distances for the under 8 and under 12 age groups will be 3km and for the under 18’s 5km.

Other Benifits:

• Free entry to festivals that coincide with the Run such as the Ommiberg Festival at Rhebokskloof, XTN Family Fig Festival and the Perdeberg Family Festival.

• A free invite to the awards dinner after the last event in February 2018.

• 12 Bottles of wine at the awards dinner in February 2018 if you finish all 12 runs.

Timing will be done by Live Time. You can buy a permanent tag for R50 or rent one at each event for R10.

One water point on the 5km, two on the 10km and three on the 17km.

This allows the farm to grow a wide selection of cultivars, some uncommon in South Africa, and also to match each cultivar with its ideal soil and microclimate. With each passing harvest they learn more about their soils and vineyards, and refine their vineyard and cellar practices in order to create the finest wines for their unique terroir.

With the splendid restaurant and Wagon Trail Brewery you can be sure that National Braai Day will be a special one. A braai menu will be available on the day and we will have live music to entertain you while you relax after your run.

Located in Paarl in the heart of the Boland of the Western Cape, Perdeberg Winery enjoys one of the finest wine-growing regions of the Cape. Our winery lies at the foot of the magnificent Paardeberg Mountain, named after the scores of Cape Mountain Zebra that once roamed this beautiful mountainside.

With the Family Festival taking place on the same weekend as Halloween, the Run The Vines #10 run at the Perdeberg Family Festival is one to look forward to. As the one event through the year that runners can dress up for the occasion, we are looking forward to see what our host Lans will come up with this year. In 2015 he entertained us as being dressed as Batman for the entire day. Again we will be handing out prizes for the best dressed individual and couple.

Tickets for the festival will be available on the day (R60 - Kids enter for free).
